Background
Edric was raised in Baldur’s Gate by a large merchant family of half-elves, and had a mostly normal life growing up in the city. Eager for the world beyond it, he took to the merchant caravans and trading ships that traversed the Sword Coast, learning to fight with a blade along the way.
One fateful day, pirates boarded the merchant ship he and his younger brother Geralt were on. Outnumbering them three to one, they started killing the crew where they stood. When all seemed lost, a sudden storm formed, its strong winds and lightning tearing the ship asunder. Edric woke up on the shore, seemingly the only survivor, a changed man.
He took his survival as a sign of the gods saving him for something greater. Never groomed for the priesthood, he worships the gods the only way he knows how: fixing the woes of the world with the powers they have bestowed on him. His own morals put him in conflict with the lightning god Talos, who he believes spared him but left his brother and crew for dead.
While still young and naïve, he has since signed up for many adventures, always trying to be a force for good, in honour of those he failed to save.

Session 1 - Into the Mists
Edric was among the five travellers in Garlan Shepard’s wagon when the fog rolled in. When the party climbed down to investigate the woods, he cast a light spell on the wagon’s cover to illuminate the area, and it was this glow that let Virro spot the silhouette of a great wolf among the trees, its eyes burning an unnatural amber.
When the wagon broke apart and the party fled, Edric managed to get control of the panicked ponies Keneticut and Stanford for a time before Stanford broke free. He was present for Madam Eva’s reading at the Vistani camp.
Session 2 - A Sad Village of Few Souls
Outside the The Blood of the Vine tavern, Edric heard raised voices and stepped out to find Morgantha standing before a pair of hollow-eyed Barovians, cradling their swaddled child. When he and Virro couldn’t reason her into giving the child back, Edric offered her a favour, any favour, whenever she chose to collect it. Morgantha accepted without hesitation and handed the child over, looking far too pleased about the arrangement.
He and Virro later went together to the Burgomaster’s manor, finding it under siege. Ireena Kolyana met them at the door, suspicious they were agents of the dark lord. Once convinced otherwise, she let them inside, where the body of Kolyan Indirovich lay in state.
Session 3 - Spawn
At the manor, Edric and Virro compared the letter Edric had received with an undelivered letter penned by Kolyan Indirovich, and saw that Edric’s had been altered. The original seemed to be warning people away from Barovia.
Ireena Kolyana asked to be escorted out of the village toward a safer town once her father was buried, and Edric set out with her and Virro for the church, hoping Father Donavich would bless the burial. At the centre of town they fell in with Ignacious Teegan and a stranger he had picked up, Vesper Kasimov, and soon after Retnuh rode in on a Nightmare, talking about Strahd.
At the church, the party learned that Father Donavich’s son, Doru, was a vampire chained in the undercroft, and went down to confront him. When Doru bit Retnuh, Edric and Virro threw him off. The party used the pillars and Doru’s chain to hold him back until he leapt to the ceiling and clawed into Virro. As Retnuh’s axe struck Doru’s side, the floor above collapsed on all of them.
Session 4 - Horsemen
Virro dug Edric out of the rubble of the collapsed church. Edric stayed for Kolyan Indirovich’s burial, and when a tall, dark-skinned stranger in black and deep purple appeared behind Father Donavich at the graveside, Ismark told him it was Rahadin, the castle chamberlain. When Rahadin laid a hand on the priest’s shoulder, his eyes glinting purple, and told him to take a seat, Edric recognised the spell for what it was: suggestion.
When Rahadin tried to speak with him and Virro, both told him their names were Retnuh.
On the graveyard road, when zombies rose from the graves and the party found Red again, Edric grasped his holy symbol and cast turn undead. The wave of radiant light sent several zombies marching away into the mists, never to be seen again, and drove off the Swarm of Zombie Limbs that had emerged from the mausoleum. Afterwards, he lent the undead Red a quill, and Red handed him a page from his lilac book with a horse drawn on it.
Edric carefully approached the risen Stanford, who let Edric mount him. At Morgantha’s windmill, she offered him a choice: where Arabelle was, or calling in his favour. “Tell me where the girl is,” he said. Inside, he pointed out that she’d claimed her sisters had left Barovia; she introduced the two women as her daughters. In return for the information, she asked for the head of Rahadin.
Session 5 - All will be well
At camp, Edric noticed a large raven perched at the edge of the firelight, watching with one bright, steady eye. “A friend of Vesper’s,” he murmured. It stayed until the fire burned low. On the road to Vallaki, he asked Ernest Festibule whether he was allied with Strahd, and why he no longer needed the caparison he gave them for Stanford: his horse had been taken by a roc.
In Vallaki, Edric wandered the town with Ireena and Virro, and was at Blinsky’s Toys when Ireena found a doll in her own likeness. At St. Andral’s Church, Father Lucian asked him and Ignacious to help find the stolen bones of St. Andral, without which the town’s protection against the undead won’t function.
