A tavern on the main square of Barovia village. In the fog, a single shaft of light cuts through the haze like a solid pillar, the only real brightness in the square, and above the gaping doorway a sign swings crooked on its chains. Inside, warmth and firelight replace the cold, though the atmosphere is no less heavy.
The barman is Arik, who gives nothing away and only asks whether you want a drink. The tavern is owned by three Vistani women, Mirabelle, Sorvia, and Alenka, who sit at a table near the front and see that tabs get paid. Sorvia keeps a room upstairs.
The party spent their first night in the village here, drinking pitchers of wine and playing Mirabelle’s game of Truths. Ignacious Teegan bought a drink for Ismark The Lesser, who joined the table until a question about his sister drove him out into the street. Virro tried to alter his tab while Arik was away, and Mirabelle burned it instead. Outside the door, Morgantha sold her pastries and bargained with Edric Storm over a Barovian child.
