Burgomaster of Barovia village and father of Ireena Kolyana and Ismark The Lesser. By the time the party arrived in the village, he was already dead. His body lay in state in a coffin inside the Burgomaster’s manor, which had been besieged by forces loyal to Strahd von Zarovich.
At the manor, Virro and Edric Storm compared the letter Edric had received with an undelivered letter penned by Kolyan himself, and saw that Edric’s had been altered. The original seemed to be warning people away from Barovia.

Ireena asked that he be buried before she leaves the village, and the party set out for the church, hoping Father Donavich would bless the burial in the name of the Morninglord.
Vistani women from the tavern and Ismark carried his body to the ruined church in a coffin that Ireena and Ismark had made, and a handful of Barovians gathered for a hurried burial. Father Donavich began the eulogy, “to honour a mighty and compassionate fallen friend to all”, before Rahadin arrived, put the priest in his seat, and finished it himself, paying mocking tribute to “a Barovian of little renown”.
Before he left, Rahadin had the body of Vesper the wereraven kicked into Kolyan’s grave. Each Barovian present threw a handful of dirt into the grave, and once Rahadin had gone and the crowd had dwindled, Ismark gave a eulogy of his own.
