The chamberlain of Castle Ravenloft. Tall and dark-skinned, with long hair, dressed in fine black and deep purple, the fabric cut close and precise. He speaks with a voice of strange, foreign silk.
He appeared behind Father Donavich as the priest began the eulogy at Kolyan Indirovich’s burial. Ismark pointed him out to Edric Storm as Rahadin, the castle chamberlain. “You are doubtless tired, Father. Take a seat,” he said, laying a hand on Donavich’s shoulder as his eyes glinted purple, and Donavich sat. Edric recognised the spell for what it was: suggestion.
Rahadin then gave the eulogy himself, beneath “the glorious shadow of the Pillarstone of Ravenloft”, paying mocking tribute to “a Barovian of little renown” while the mourners looked on in discomfort.
To close the funeral, he offered Father Donavich a large sack of gold for rebuilding the church, which he said would come with “some instruction on how best to redesign it”, to help guide people on how to live their lives. He had the body of Vesper the wereraven brought to Kolyan’s graveside and kicked it into the grave to “save on space”.
When he tried to speak with Edric and Virro, both told him their names were Retnuh. Unamused, he walked off, though Virro’s parting jab at his dress sense stopped him in his tracks for a moment before he carried on.
Morgantha wants his head. In return for telling the party where Arabelle is, she asked them to bring her “the tongue of a very rude dusk elf”: the head of Rahadin. She called him very rude and arrogant but didn’t say what her grievance was, and told them that if he isn’t in the castle, he can sometimes be found in the drowned village of Berez, or up Mount Balinok.
