An order of knights who have resisted the rulers of this valley since before the Count was a Count. In Ernest Festibule’s words: “Long ago, the forces of King Barov came over the mountains and took this valley. We resisted. We were not successful. But we did not stop resisting, and that, I’m afraid, is rather the point of us.” Their sole mission is to see the end of Strahd’s tyranny.
The Order’s colours are amber and silver, with a dragon’s coil. Its old home is Argynvostholt, where its commander, Vladimir Horngaard, still keeps watch. Festibule put their number at “a few dozen, give or take,” and is searching for his missing battalion. At least some of them are undead: Festibule is a revenant, and declined to travel with the party because “the wards against the undead prevent my entry”.
They do not tolerate Strahd’s allies. “Anything less than complete opposition to the dark lord will make you his enemy.”
